Clearwater Festival Reveals Seeger Tribute Details

Last month the Clearwater Festival announced that it would be hosting a special tribute to folk legend Pete Seeger and his wife Toshi at this year’s event. The festival, originally founded by Seeger over 40 years ago, has now revealed the lineups for a few celebrations of Seeger’s life and music.

The Clearwater Family Band featuring Tom Paxton, Tom Chapin, Guy Davis, David Amram, Dar Williams, Holly Near, Josh White Jr. and other will play one of the tribute sets. A banjo tribute with sets of both The Wavers and Almanac Singers’ music—band of which Seeger was a member—will be led by Tony Trischka. There will also be a special set featuring songs that Seeger wrote in honor of the 3,000 Americans who volunteered to fight the Nazi-supported Fasicts during the Spanish Civil War in the 1930s.

In addition, the Dance Stage will host A Square Dance in Memory of How Pete and Toshi met.

As previously reported, the Clearwater Festival will take place June 21 and 22 in Croton-On-Hudson, NY. Lucinda Williams, Puss N Boots (Norah Jones, Sasha Dobson and Catherine Popper), moe. Acoustic, Martin Sexton and many others will perform at the event.
