Dave Matthews was joined by Paul Simon and Aaron Neville during last night’s Children’s Health Fund Gala at Lincoln Center in New York City. The annual event, which was once gain hosted by Simon, began with Matthews working through solo acoustic renditions of “Crush” and “Snow Outside,” as well as John Denver’s “Take Me To Tomorrow.” Simon then came out to help Matthews with a take on his original “Slip Slidin’ Away” before going into DMB’s’ “Satellite.” Next, Matthews and Simon played “Me and Julio Down By The Schoolyard,” a tune that Simon performed with DMB at Jazz Fest in 2001 (Matthews actually sat that one out, letting Simon lead his band for the song instead). The show then wrapped up as Neville joined the fray for a cover of Robert & Johnny’s 1958 R&B hit “We Belong Together,” the same song that he and Simon performed for the My True Story PBS special that was shot at the Brooklyn Bowl in November 2012.
