Brock Butler Joined By Perpetual Groove’s Matt McDonald in Athens, GA

Back in April of last year Athens, GA jam staples Perpetual Groove called it quits with a farewell show at the Georgia Theatre after longtime frontman Brock Butler announced his desire to go an indefinite hiatus from the band. JamBase now reports that Butler finally shared the stage with one of his former bandmates for the time on Tuesday night.

Butler was joined by keyboard Matt McDonald (who is now part of a new group called Ghost Owl with the remaining members of P Groove) during his performance at the Green Room in Athens. The pair, both on guitar, teamed up for four songs during Butler’s second set, including covers of The Deep Dark Woods’ “All The Money I Had Is Gone” and Modest Mouse’s “Float On,” as well as takes on the P Groove originals “TSMM” and “Sweet Obvious Antidote.”

Here’s is a look at Tuesday night’s setlist via JamBase

Nice to see. Hopefully the guys can work it out some day and make some more beautiful noise together. P-Groove was the best.

Agreed, it’s great to see them playing together again. Brock is the man & a nice guy. I loved that band for a long time, can’t wait for the reunion tour! Sweet oblivious cure.

If you are craving some P Groove, do yourself a favor and download Brock’s solo stuff from Jam Cruise or his album Lately Here Though….. .. you can also youtube his newest song Smile Again (to see yours). I can listen to it all day long.
