The Disco Biscuits debuted a cover of “Viola Lee Blues” during the second show of their three-night run at New York City’s Irving Plaza last night. The band, who are currently preparing to join Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann for special show at Gathering of the Vibes later this summer, surprised fans when they opened their second set with the tune, which was a staple of the Grateful Dead’s repertoire.

Last night’s show also saw the Biscuits deliver another four song first set, as well as an inverted “Confrontation” that was placed in the middle of “Kamaole Sands.” Additionally, the night came to a close without an encore, as the band played through their allotted time with a “Spacebird Mating Call” finale.

The Disco Biscuits will return to Irving Plaza for the final show of their run tonight. As previously reported, the band kicked things off on Thursday night by repeating the setlist from their December 4, 1999 debut at Irving Plaza.
