Dave Matthews Band Debut Paul Simon Cover, Welcome a Guest in Camden

Dave Matthews Band treated fans to a few surprises over the weekend during their two-night run at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ.

Friday night saw the band bust out their first “Good Good Time” since July 30, 2010 during the opening acoustic set, while “Raven” was played for the first time since 2012 later in the show. The night also featured a sit in from trumpeter Matt Cappy, who joined the band for their last 2012 Camden run, on “Proudest Monkey” and “Warehouse.”

Saturday night had a surprise of its own when the full band worked in their first-ever cover of Paul Simon’s “Slip Slidin’ Away.” The debut came just a few days after Matthews first performed the tune with Simon himself during the annual Children’s Health Fund Gala.

Finally, Dave Matthews Band closed out their run with an electric take on “Two Step,” which is only notable because they opened the run with an acoustic rendition of the song the previous night. It was the first time that a song has bookended one of the band’s two-night stands since their 2002 Madison Sqaure Garden run, when they did the same thing with “Everyday.”

Dave Matthews Band will return to the stage on Friday night when they kick off a two-night run at the Verizon Wireless Music Center in Noblesville, IN.
