Dr. John will release Ske-Dat-De-Dat…The Spirit of Satch as a tribute to Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong” on August 19, marking his debut on Concord Records. The record will feature 13 quintessential numbers drawn from various points in Armstrong’s five-decade career.

Joining Dr. John on the album are the likes of Bonnie Raitt, Ledisi, the McCrary Sisters, Anthony Hamilton, Shemekia Copeland and the Blind Boys of Alabama who lent their voice to “What a Wonderful World” as well as “Wrap Your Troubles in Dreams.”

“He’s the most famous guy that ever came out of my neighborhood,” says Dr. John of his fellow New Orleans legend. “He became a legend all over, for his trumpet playin’ and everything else, and he was the United States’ ambassador to the world.”
