Chris Robinson and Bill Walton Guest with RatDog in L.A.

Chris Robinson and basketball Hall of Famer/longtime Grateful Dead fan Bill Walton sat in with Bob Weir & RatDog last night at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, CA. The Black Crowes/Chris Robinson Brotherhood frontman took up vocals on renditions of Otis Redding’s “Hard to Handle” (a song that was famously covered by The Crowes) and Bobby Bland’s “Turn On Your Lovelight,” while Walton joined in on hand percussion.

Last night marked the first time that RatDog had ever performed “Hard to Handle,” while the show also saw the band’s first “It’s All Over Now” since September 2, 2009.

Here’s a look at last night’s setlist:

Wednesday, July 2, 2014, RatDog, Greek Theatre, Los Angeles, CA

Set I: Jam > Feel Like a Stranger > Minglewood Blues, It’s All Over Now, Mission in the Rain, Hard to Handle*, Turn On Your Lovelight*

Set II: When I Paint My Masterpiece, Friend of the Devil, Playin in the Band > Lady with a Fan > Terrapin > Stuff > Dear Prudence > GDTRFB

Enc: Touch of Grey

“Hand Percussion”???? What the hell does that mean? Perhaps Bill was giving Buttfuckles Mc Twatt a reacharound (known as a “Loose Lucy” in Deadspeak).....whatever, BFMcT needs all thehelp he can get. As for Chris Robinson, perhaps he owed BFMcT for the oxies he lifted from the dressing room. Really, could this get any more boring? I’d rather sit home and listen to my neighbor’s dog flatulate than be exposed to this Clockwork Orange double bill. Thoughts, stinkies???

Hand Percussion = Maracas, Shakers, Guiros, etc. I personally think this double bill is quite a treat… sit home and jerk off your dog.

Sad, perhaps, but DJD & (or?) DtS are the most talented scribes (& by far the most entertaining albeit divisively) this site has ever had. As for BW, he used to work out @ my gym in CT once in a while (very near ESPN & down the block from KC Jones’ crib) and lemme tellya guy’s a fuggin DOUCHE. People would try to say hi to him & he would just act like a total fuckwad. I’m like, ‘dude, if u don’t wanna b recognized, don’t parade around in yer frickin tie-dyes. Can’t bench fer shit either btw.
