Conor Oberst has issued a statement following the public apology of Joanie Faircloth, the woman who accused him of rape. Faircloth posted comments to the website XOJane in December claiming the Bright Eyes frontman had taken advantage of her in Durham, NC. She issued a statement yesterday saying all allegations were 100% false.

The full statement from Oberst reads: “This has been extremely difficult and stressful for me personally and for those I love. I’m appreciative of the family, friends, fans and business partners who supported me throughout this and look forward to happier times as we all move forward with our lives.”

Oberst is currently on tour in Europe in support of his latest album Upside Down Mountain and will return to the States July 27 for a slot at Newport Folk Festival.
