Meanwhile, Yonder is playing awesome festivals around the country and couldn’t be happier.

doitright July 24, 2014, 14:26:52

He’s playing with Grateful Grass at vibes not Jeff Austin band

Head'n down the river July 24, 2014, 14:29:02

I was just at string summit last weekend and I’ll tell ya first hand it isn’t the same without Jeff Austin. It was good.. But not epic

bj July 24, 2014, 14:41:55

yeah i agree, it’s still fun but austin and his energy is what made yonder, yonder.

Jeff Austin isnt just playing a “slot” at Hangtown, he’s one of the festival’s Artists At Large, which will be a fun opportunity for him to express his personality on his own! Can’t wait.

So Jeff will be playing the mint .. I will be there.. Very confused though does this mean that the others in YMSB hate LA and that’s why the 4 year hiatus from playing here? Or is Jeff just desperate to get on with his band that he will play here ?? Either way I’ll be there

MORE LIKE: Meanwhile the rest of the band is on their farewell tour…Fast forward to next summer and we will see who is headlining big festivals and who is trying to find a new fan-base… The band formerly known as YMSB will soon be opening for big name pop cheese country/bluegrass bands at state fairgrounds full of fans more concerned with decal stickers on their trucks than a sweet pin on their hat and where the mol dawg is at… (if they can be so lucky)

Last two Yonder shows I attended were the best ones I had seen in many moons. Last two shows were without Austin. Love a lot of the Jeff songs, but his mando playing has been seriously lacking lately. Best of luck to him, but the new Yonder will continue on and prosper without him.

Who cares July 24, 2014, 16:46:52

I’ve Seen 3 yonder shows recently after taking a few year break (Got old seeing jeff strung out and babbling) they were amazing!! So happy to be able to enjoy a yonder show again!

Talk about mixed reviews! I guess time will tell with this one. Maybe they will all go on to kick lots of ass.

just googled some jeff austin “and friends” youtube vids with the same line up. Sounds bad.

Not what you want to hear July 25, 2014, 02:44:33

Danny barns is boring. Seen him with Jeff solo and with Jeff and yonder and it was always a sleeper. Far from the psychedelic newgrass yonder taught me to love….. What a joke of a band. Swoop tye north, Darol anger Paul mccandless and a good flat picker on guitar and will think about checking it out… Until then, I’m stacking chips for yonder.

Top clarify on the tour dates: Four of the shows are Grateful Grass Sets of Jeff with Keller Williams. These dates are posted below: 8/01 Fri – Gathering of the Vibes – Bridgeport, CT*
8/16 Sat – Yarmony Grass – Bond, CO*
9/5-6 Fri-Sat – Lockn’ Festival – Arrington, VA*
9/12 Fri – Utopia Festival – Utopia, TX^ * Jeff plays with Grateful Grass featuring Keller Williams and Keith Moseley
^ Jeff plays with Grateful Grass featuring Keller Williams and Sam Grisman

Danny Barnes is not boring—he is super talented. Def a level above Dave – He’s worked with Bill Frizell- And why are we still arguing over the least talented (musicianship wise) jam grass band on the scene- I have always enjoyed YMSB in the past but when compared to real bluegrass musicians- or even other jam grass bands it is ultimately not fair to them…they did have their moments in early 2000’s tho— saw some killer shows in VT back then…

LetsGoCaps July 25, 2014, 12:14:35

I was able to catch YMSB at DelFest this year. One of the better shows I’ve seen In a while. Pretty damn awesome. Good luck to everyone.

Peachhead July 25, 2014, 17:25:22

Saw yonder at telluride. Still good musicianship but they have definitely lost their character and energy a bit

B wizzle July 26, 2014, 13:24:36

I have been a yonder fan for around 12 years now. I definitely loved jeff with them in the beginning….. But the past few years it seemed to me that they weren’t flowing as a band anymore and it showed in their music and energy on stage. I have caught about 4 shows since jeff has left and only one with jeff austin and friends. AND LET ME TELL YOU I THINK YONDER IS WAY BETTER OFF WITHOUT JEFF THAN JEFF IS WITHOUT THEM. Not hating on either one. Jeff lis still an awesome artist, just not as good without the other three!

Wilson July 26, 2014, 20:40:42

Neither will be what ymsb was. But now jeff is with very talented musicians and ymsb is now with two very talented musicians. Win win, folks. Quit ya bitchin

Winging This August 22, 2014, 19:36:30

The new band Jeff has backing him up — Danny Barnes, Ross Martin, and Eric Thorin — is made up of some of the most incredible Bluegrass players on the scene. There’s not a doubt in my mind that Jeff traded up in spades. Can’t wait to see them!
