Phil Lesh & Friends to Play Forest Hills Tennis Stadium

The Capitol Theatre and Madison House Presents will host a special Phil Lesh and Friends show on September 21 at Forest Hills Tennis Stadium in Forest Hills, NY. The bassist will bring The Q to New York City for the first time since 2003, welcoming Warren Haynes, Jimmy Herring, Rob Barraco and John Molo, the longest running incarnation of Phil Lesh & Friends. Tickets to the show are on sale via the Capitol Theatre.

This week, Lesh will headline two shows at the Brooklyn Bowl London location with the Terrapin Family Band on July 29 and 30. JJ Grey & Mofro will join the bill as a special guest. Tickets are available here. In September, Lesh will be a centerpiece at the Lockn’ Festival as he will perform two sets of Phil Lesh & Friends and take the stage for Furthur’s first show since January and their only scheduled performance for the remainder of the year. He will also perform three shows at the newly opened Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas from October 17-19. Two shows will feature Phil Lesh & Friends with the Sunday afternoon finale centered around Lesh and the Terrapin Family Band.

In November of 2013, Lesh and Capitol Theatre proprietor (and Relix publisher) Peter Shapiro signed a deal that secured the Grateful Dead bassist for 44 shows exclusively at Shapiro’s venues as well as venues he is affiliated with including the Capitol Theatre, Brooklyn Bowl New York, Brooklyn Bowl London, Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas and the Lockn’ Festival in Arrington, VA.

Why not just announce the Fri/Sat Capitol shows now so people can plan accordingly? Grimey way to do business if you ask me… think we’re being Shap’d again

mr. knowitall mike- whats the relationship with Pete and Forest Hills? Nada- Explain whats so grimey?

There won’t be Fri/Sat Cap shows with Steely Dan booked there for Fri/Saturday night. Maybe Monday Tuesday, but not Fri/Saturday.

Don’t claim to know it all Steve, just been the pattern with staggered announcements (least attractive dates first then progressively more added). Note that the shows are for sale at the Capitol website, and that Shapiro has an exclusive contract- refer to last paragraph of this story. Would just be nice for people who need to book flights, vacation time, etc. Wait and see, you heard it here first!

Q in a tennis stadium! Dope! You guys could find a problem with heather locklear in the 90’s.

well if you wanna make a stand.. then dont buy tickets if its central park… opposite the stage, bout 50 ft from the fence is a huge rock formation that you can climb and sit on. Great sound flows perfectly through the area. Bring your own food and whatever else.. even the kids cause they wont be trampled on in the GA clusterfuck

wrong on all accounts folks. this is the one and only Q show. Warren flying in from west coast Mule tour and right back the next morning.

Hate to say it cuz I love Jimmy and all, but this longest-running lineup was also the dullest.

NKP July 29, 2014, 08:01:51

Although I respect your opinion MarZaPhiGar, you are absolutely wrong.

dk70 July 29, 2014, 10:35:23

I’m with NKP on this one. Two of the best rock guitarists on Earth, plus Warren’s great voice. Hello!!!????

One of the greatest unsung bands of our time if you consider they did one studio album (which didn’t do them justice) and released no truly formal live album, but The Q could do wondrous things and regularly too!...never forget three nights @ Orpheum Boston in 2003
