Paul Simon sat in during his wife Edie Brickell’s past two shows with Steve Martin & The Steep Canyon Rangers. Brickell and Martin, who are currently on the road together in support of their new album Love Has Come For You, were joined by Paul Simon for a few tunes at last night’s show in Midland, TX and Tuesday night’s show in Austin, TX.
Jambase reports that Paul came out on Tuesday night to join his wife for the classic Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn duet “You’re The Reason Our Children Are Ugly” and Ernest Tubb’s “Waltz Across Texas.” He then made an appearance the next night to join the group for some humorous banter and help them with his own classic, “Me and Julio Down By The Schoolyard.” Martin, who claimed he didn’t know how to play the song, took up the tambourine for the duration of the tune.
