Legacy Recordings will reissue two Jimi Hendrix albums on CD, vinyl and digital on September 16. The Cry of Love and Rainbow Bridge, Hendrix’s first and second posthumous studio releases, will be reintroduced with original album art and tracklists. Both albums have been remastered by Bernie Grundman from the original analog masters. While The Cry of Love was last issued on CD in 1992, Rainbow Bridge has never before seen an official CD release.

1971’s The Cry of Love was compiled and mixed by Hendrix’s longtime engineer Eddie Kramer and Experience drummer Mitch Mitchell. The bulk of the album was recorded in 1969-1970 at Electric Lady Studios in New York and were intended to be part of a double LP.

Rainbow Bridge was recorded around the same time at Electric Lady during the same sessions that spawned The Cry of Love. The album features a live, original rendition of Hendrix’s composition “Hear My Train A Comin” taken from his performance at Berkeley Community Theatre in May of 1970.
