Burning Man was set to kick off today in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert but is now temporarily closed due to extensive rainfall in the area.

Per a post on the event’s Facebook page, Burning Man is closed through tonight and likely into tomorrow morning. Law enforcement is turning back vehicles and has declared the playa un-drivable.

According to the Reno Gazette-Journal, Black Rock radio reported that they expect to lose power and will stop broadcasting. Despite the rocky start, the weather is supposed to be dry for the remainder of the festival which stretches to September 1.
