Trey Anastasio’s orchestra tour continued last night as the guitarist stopped at Seattle’s Benaroya Hall for a performance with the Seattle Symphony. During the encore, the guitarist led the crowd in a “Wilson” chant, in honor of the Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, who used the song throughout the team’s Super Bowl-winning season last year.
During a Trey Anastasio Band show early in 2013, the guitarist mentioned that he wanted the team to use the popular Phish song during the upcoming season. The team obliged, playing the opening notes of “Wilson” every time their quarterback took the field. The crowd, who is notoriously energetic and passionate, eventually caught on, prompting a stadium-wide “Wilson” chant.
Additional songs played last night included the new composition “Petrichor” as well as orchestral staples “You Enjoy Myself,” “Stash,” “Divided Sky” and more. Trey returns to the stage on September 26 at Hollywood Bowl, where Arcade Fire’s Richard Reed Parry and The National’s Bryce Dessner will open the show.
