Foo Fighters will make their much anticipated return to Richmond, VA tonight as the band will play at The National, marking their first RVA show in 16 years. The show came about when fans of the band began selling hypothetical tickets to the show. After 1,400 tickets were sold, the band obliged to play the show.

Now, Mayor Dwight C. Jones has declared today Foo Fighters Day in Richmond. The mayor cited the fact that “several local businesses rallied behind the crowdfunding effort” and that the “fan driven campaign captured the attention of the national media and the Foo Fighters.”

Coincidentally enough, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel also announced today that September 23 will be David Bowie Day.
