John Bell joined Yonder Mountain String Band for a significant portion of last night’s performance at the Kinfolk Celebration at Planet Bluegrass in Lyons, CO. The Widespread Panic frontman played a brief solo set before taking the stage with Yonder and special guests Allie Kral and Jake Joliff.

Bell sat in with the band for the first part of their first set, which featured takes on Widespread Panic’s “Ribs and Whiskey” and “Worry,” as well as renditions of Yonder’s “Don’t Worry Happy Birthday” and two Panic favorites—Jerry Joseph’s “Climb to Safety” and Bukka White’s “Fixin’ to Die.” Bell took the stage once again toward the middle of the second set for Panic’s “Mercy,” “Ain’t Life Grand” and the Yonder original “Winds On Fire” before returning for a show-closing cover of the Grateful Dead’s “New Speedway Boogie.”

Yonder Mountain String Band will be joined by special guests Jason Carter and Ronnie McCoury when they return to the Kinfolk Celebration tonight.
