The Disco Biscuits kicked off their three-night City Bisco run at The Trocadero Theatre in Philadelphia last night. The fun started before the music even began, as bassist Marc Brownstein used the band’s social media outlets to run a Philly-wide scavenger hunt for free tickets to the night’s show.

The music got started with an exact recreation of the first three songs from the Disco Biscuits’ April 9, 1999 performance at the Trocadero Theatre, as “Run Like Hell” segued into “Little Shimmy in a Conga Line” before “Bazaar Escape” wrapped up the fakeout. The first set also featured a cover of Michael Jackson’s “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough,” as well as the ending portion of “Above The Waves.”

While the Biscuits were busy rocking through their first set, they also allowed for some interaction from the fans back home. The band used its social media outlets to announce a text message poll, which gave fans the ability to choose one of three different songs to be played during the second set. “I-man” must have been the winner, because the song showed up toward the end of the second set, nestled between “Very Moon” and the set-closing return of “Run Like Hell.”

The Disco Biscuits will continue their City Bisco run tonight with a show at the Electric Factory before wrapping things up with a gig at The Mann Center on Saturday.
