The Disco Biscuits closed out their City Bisco run with a show at The Mann Center in Philadelphia on Saturday night. As promised, the band kicked off the three-set show with a special set that was billed as the “Perfume,” which saw the group work through atypical renditions of numerous songs. The set got going with a Devo-style take on “Frog Legs” before the band treated fans to a dubbed out “Mindless Dribble,” a disco version of “7-11,” a reworked “Pilin’ It High” and a punk rendition of “Kitchen Mitts.”

The high-energy, hourlong second set began and ended on “Little Lai,” with a “Caterpillar” > “Little Betty Boop” > “Caterpillar” becoming the sandwich-within-a-sandwich. The set was followed by a lengthy performance from electronic music pioneer Giorgio Moroder, who is back in the limelight these days due to his recent collaboration with Daft Punk.

The Disco Biscuits finally wrapped things up with another set of non-stop, as “Crickets” blasted into an unfinished “42” and “Orch Theme” before moving into a heavy-hitting “Tempest.” “Aquatic Ape” was then followed by the last part of “42” to close out the set. Bassist Marc Brownstein then took the mic to thank all those in attendance for another successful City Bisco. He also revealed that the band will be heading to Chicago and New York City for their New Year’s run, though he didn’t confirm any other details. Then, with The Mann’s curfew fast approaching, the band knocked out a quick “Helicopters” to wrap up the weekend.

The Disco Biscuits will return to the stage later this year, when they join STS9, Umphrey’s McGee, Lotus and more at Dominican Holidaze December 3-7.
