Pearl Jam paid tribute to Johnny Ramone last night in Tulsa, OK during their show at the BOK Center as yesterday was the late guitarist’s birthday. During the first encore, frontman Eddie Vedder dedicated a cover of the band’s “I Believe in Miracles” to Ramone, a song Pearl Jam has covered with regularity since 1995.

While not played last night, Pearl Jam’s own “Life Wasted” was reportedly written about the death of Johnny Ramone. Eddie Vedder wrote the lyrics as he drove home from Ramone’s funeral.

Additional highlights from the show include some particularly funny banter from the frontman, who called out a person that was sitting down in the audience. “Don’t make me get all Kanye on you now,” Vedder reportedly said, referring to an incident in Australia where Kanye West asked a handicapped fan to stand up. When the audience member raised a pair of crutches to reveal he was indeed suffering from some injury that prevented him from standing, Vedder joked, saying “You Kanye’d me!” before telling the man to sit down and make himself comfortable.

The band also delivered a few rare cuts including “Breakerfall” and “Marker in the Sand” early on in the set. Pearl Jam’s tour continues tonight in Lincoln, Nebraska.
