In a new interview with the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Widespread Panic’s John Bell says the band is “plucking away” at new studio material. “Well, we are just doing our road work right now and we’re plucking away at some new studio stuff, some new songs to go into the studio with,” Bell told the publication.

Bell also discussed fill-in Duane Trucks, citing his work in Hard Working Americans with Dave Schools as a reason for his selection. “There is familiarity and communication there,” he said. “He’s also Jimmy’s son-in-law and, most importantly, he’s a great drummer.”

Panic’s tour continues tonight with a stop in Huntsville, AL at the Von Braun Center.
