Danny Clinch celebrated the release of his new book Still Moving with a show at the Heath Space at the McKittrick Hotel in New York City with his Tangiers Blues Band. Guests throughout the night included Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins, Perry Farrell, Zac Brown, Luther Dickinson, Jesse Malin and Preservation Hall Jazz Band. While they did not perform, the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Courtney Love and Michael Stipe were also in attendance.

Performances of note included Luther Dickinson and Zac Brown joining the Blues Band and Preservation Hall Jazz Band (who both served as house band for the evening) for a cover of “Use Me.” Jane’s Addiction Perry Farrell then came out for a take on The Stones’ “Sympathy for the Devil” before Malin, Grohl and Hawkins emerged for The Stones’ “Miss You” (which also featured Farrell) as well as Bob Dylan’s “From a Buick 6.” (E-Street Band keyboardist Roy Bittan and Jon Herrington sat in, too.) The night closed with Best Fest co-founder and Cabin Down Below Band guitarist Alex Levy sitting in for a bluesy take on Beastie Boys’ “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (to Party).”

Grohl, Hawkins and Brown were in town collaborating on the Late Show with David Letterman where they played a rendition of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs.” Foo Fighters will be in the city all week performing on the late night show as they ready for the premiere of their HBO series Sonic Highways.
