ALO bassist Steve Adams made a surprise appearance during last night’s birthday bash for his bandmate Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz at Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael, CA. Adams sat in at the beginning of the show for “Falling Dominoes,” a track from their 2012 album Sounds Like This.

Lebo’s birthday bash also featured a core band that included Phil Lesh, Jason Crosby, The Mothers Hips’ Greg Loiacono and his ALO drummer Dave Brogan. The set primarily consisted of material from the Grateful Dead repertoire, though the band also worked in renditions of ALO’s “Infinite Eye” and “I Wanna Feel It,” as well as Loiacono’s “Away From The Stones” and the Erik Satie’s classical composition “Gymnopedie.” In addition, keyboardist Jordan Feinstein joined the group for a set-closing take on Buddy Holly’s “Not Fade Away.”

Lebo and Lesh will team up again in a few weeks when the ALO guitarist joins Phil Lesh and Friends at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY on October 31 and November 1.
