Pearl Jam’s tour continued last night with a stop in Detroit, MI at the Joe Louis Arena, home of the Detroit Red Wings. Eddie Vedder was quick to point that out throughout the night, referencing the championship banners early on and dedicating a song to Red Wings legend Chris Chelios later in the show.

Vedder also took time to pay tribute to Jack White and Isaiah “Ikey” Owens, who passed away recently. Vedder called White a “friend of the band” and wished him and his band well following the loss of Owens, then dedicating “Light Years” to the keyboardist.

Last night’s setlist featured several notable performances including just the seventh “Black, Red, Yellow” ever. The Lost Dogs cut was played for the first time since the band’s legendary May 21, 2010 show at Madison Square Garden (which remains the last time they performed at MSG). The following performance of “Lukin” was dedicated to Matt Lukin, who Vedder said was in the audience. The song was written about Vedder’s time at the Mudhoney bassist’s house while he dealt with a stalker problem in the ’90s.

During the second encore, the band broke into a snippet of “Detroit Rock City” before launching into their own “Spin the Black Circle,” marking the first time the KISS track has been performed by the band. The night closed with a rare take on MC5’s “Kick Out the Jams,” The Who’s “Baba O’Riley” and their own “Indifference.”

Next up for Pearl Jam is a show tonight in Moline, IL at the iWireless Center.
