The Allman Brothers Band returned to the Beacon Theatre last night for the second show of their six-night farewell run at the storied New York City venue. Guitarist Derek Trucks took the stage with Duane Allman’s long lost—and recently rediscovered—1957 Goldtop Les Paul for the show, which saw the band close out their first set with an instrumental “Will The Circle Be Unbroken?” for the second time in two nights. The song has been in the Allman’s repertoire for 40 years and, while it hasn’t been played often in recent years, seems like a fitting theme for their final shows.

The first set was also highlighted by a particularly strong run of Dr. John’s “Walk On Gilded Splinters,” Muddy Waters’ “Trouble No More” and Howlin’ Wolf’s “Who’s Been Talking.” The biggest moment of the second set came toward the end, when the band worked a great “JaBuMa” drum solo into a typically-jammed-out “Mountain Jam” to wrap things up. The Allmans then encored with “One Way Out” to end the night.

The Allman Brothers Band will return to the Beacon Theatre on Friday night for the fourth-to-last show of their farewell run.
