Dopapod’s album release party at the Gramercy Theatre in New York City was cut short last night after the P.A. caught fire in the middle of the show. The band was performing their song “Vol. 3 #86” during what ended up being the night’s only set when fans began pointing out that the speaker was on fire. The staff then evacuated the venue before the fire department showed up to assess the situation. After everything was cleared up, promoters CEG Presents announced that the show would be cancelled “due to flammable equipment.” Fortunately, no one was hurt during the incident.
Dopapod will continue their tour tonight with a second release party for their new album, Never Odd or Even, at District N9ne in Philadelphia. A post on the band’s Facebook page reads:
NYC Folks: We’re offering half priced admission to our show tonight in Philadelphia to anybody who brings their ticket stub from last night. Apologies for things getting cut short. That was out of anybody’s hands and we’re just happy that nobody got hurt. We’ll be making up for the lost time next time around. Just wait
Also, HUGE props to the staff at The Gramercy Theatre for quickly getting everyone out of the venue. They stopped a potentially terrible situation from being just that. Thank you & see everyone tonight!
