Every year since 2005, Relix has partnered with Del McCoury to present a special Thanksgiving Weekend music package. Over the years we’ve offered live cuts, studio favorites and even some unreleased material (we were proud to debut the bluegrass icon’s collaboration with Preservation Hall Jazz Band a few years back).

Today’s Cold Turkey Thanksgiving special features several special tracks including a cut from Del McCoury Band’s visit to our offices recently. Del and Co. delivered “Loneliness and Desperation” for us. You can also check out a collaboration with Woody Guthrie entitled “New York Trains.” The tune, which will be released next year, features music from McCoury and lyrics from Guthrie.

The final two tracks are cuts from Rob McCoury’s latest The 5 String Flamethrower in the form of “We Could” and “Feudin’ Banjos.” The former features Del and Bobby Osborne sitting in on the track while “Feudin’ Banjos” includes Rob McCoury on the five-string for which the album is named as well as Ronnie McCoury on banjo.
