David Gilmour surprised fans at the Bombay Bicycle Club show this weekend when the guitarist appeared at Earls Court in London for the first live performance of Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here” in over two years. Gilmour also sat in on one of the band’s originals, “Rinse Me Down.”

Bombay Bicycle Club guitarist Jamie MacColl introduced the Floyd legend by saying that Gilmour “gave me my first guitar.” MacColl added, “he was one of the first people to play this venue and by my count has played here more than 27 times.” Pink Floyd first played Earls Court Arena, which closed down following this show, in 1973 as a part of their tour for Dark Side of the Moon.

As previously reported, Gilmour revealed that the follow-up to his 2006 solo effort On An Island should be ready for a 2015 release and that the record is “coming along very well.” The guitarist also said that a tour is likely but it won’t be a “200-date sort of thing.” Watch the replay of the performance below.
