Phil Lesh and Joe Russo’s Almost Dead joined forces to become PhilRAD last night at the Capitol Theatre as the ensemble kicked off their New Year’s run in Port Chester, NY. Lesh joined the lineup of Russo, Scott Metzger, Tommy Hamilton and Marco Benevento as the band delivered a two-set show full of Grateful Dead favorites.

Among the highlights included an opening “Truckin’” as well as “Eyes of the World,” “Crazy Fingers” and a first-set closing “Box of Rain.” During the second set, the band weaved “Dark Star” in throughout as they worked through “All Along the Watchtower” and “The Wheel” in that segment. The band also played “Terrapin Station” before the closing “I Know You Rider.” A single encore of “Shakedown Street” brought the show to a close.

The run continues tonight at the Capitol Theatre.
