PhilRAD celebrated the New Year last night with a sold out three-set show at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY. The group—Phil Lesh (bass), Joe Russo (drums), Scott Metzger (guitar), Tommy Hamilton (guitar) and Marco Benevento (keys)—got started by weaving “Viola Lee Blues” through much of their first set. The show then continued with a second set that featured a stellar “Scarlet Begonias”/“Fire On The Mountain” combo before wrapping up with a “Happy Birthday” tribute to Hamilton. Next, the band returned to the stage to ring in 2015 with “Uncle John’s Band.” The tune was followed by a rare “Space,” which preceded “Let It Grow,” “Bird Song” and a show-ending “Not Fade Away.”
