The String Cheese Incident rang in the New Year at Colorado’s 1st Bank Center with a special guest and some typically Cheesy theatrics last night. The show got started with the SCI staples “Black Clouds,” “Smile” and “Let’s Go Outside” before moving on to the new tune “Sweet Spot.” The first set then wrapped up with “Water,” a cover of Bob Marley’s “Kinky Reggae” and “On The Road.”

The second set featured a few more classics like “Miss Brown’s Teahouse,” “Desert Dawn,” and “Jellyfish,” as well as the new Nershi-penned tune “I’m Still Here” and a a rendition of Led Zeppelin’s “Fool In The Rain” that was sandwiched in the middle of “Way Back Home.”

The New Year finally arrived during the third set, which kicked off with “Don’t It Make You Wanna Dance.” “Land’s End” and “Glory Chords” then ushered in 2015, as acrobats, performance artists, balloons and fireworks suddenly appeared throughout the arena. The party continued as local singer Liza Oxnard joined the group for a take on Kool & The Gang’s “Celebration” that segued into the equally funky “Rosie.” The set then came to a close with Paul Simon’s “Late In The Evening,” a predictably psychedelic “Rivertrance,” Talking Heads’ “This Must Be The Place” and “Just One Story.” The band then returned for encore takes on “Bollymunster” and “Good Times Around The Bend” to end the night.

Last night’s show marked the final performance of the String Cheese Incident’s three-night New Year’s Eve run. The group will return to the stage on January 13, when they participate in the Colorado Up! Inaugural Concert in Denver before kicking off their Winter Carnival Tour in Seattle on January 16.
