Yonder Mountain String Band got some help from a few special guests during nights two and three of their New Year’s run at the Boulder Theater in Boulder, CO. The group was also augmented by not-quite-members Allie Kral and Jake Joliff for the duration of the run.

Fiddler and guitarist Shawn Camp was the first to sit in on Thursday night’s show, when he took the stage for “Damned If The Right One Didn’t Go Wrong” in the middle of the first set. He then stuck around as John Popper (vocals, harmonica) and The Motet’s Joey Porter (keys) and Dave Watts (drums) joined the fray for “Complicated,” a take on Blues Travelers’ “Run Around,” “Pockets,” “Fingerprint” and a set-closing “Shakedown Street.”

The guests returned for much of the second set, including “Criminal,” Blues Traveler’s “Hook,” “New Deal Train,” “Rain In Durango” (a Guy Clark tune that was co-written by Camp), “I’ve Got a Name,” and a cover of Talking Heads’ “Girlfriend Is Better.” The band then came back out with all of their guests for night’s encore, which featured covers of Del McCoury’s “My Love Will Not Change,” David Bowie’s “Ziggy Stardust” and folk classic “Shady Grove.”

Yonder Mountain String Band were also joined by some guests during last night’s show as well. Trey Anastasio Band Jen Hartswick (trumpet) and Natalie Cressman (trombone) took the stage in the middle of the first set for “If It Hadn’t Been For Love,” “Kentucky Mandolin,” “Don’t Worry Happy Birthday,” “Corona” and Dusty Springfield’s “Son Of A Preacher Man.” The pair then returned during set two for “Anna Lee,” “Remind Me,” Bill Withers’ “Lonely Town Lonely Street,” Janis Joplin’s “Piece Of My Heart,” The Beatles’ “Only A Northern Song” and “Sidewalk Stars.” The show then wrapped up with takes on Chuck Berry’s “You Can Never Tell” and Smokey Robinson & The Miracles’ “I Second That Emotion.”
