Gov’t Mule got some help from a few friends during their two-night stand at the Tower Theatre in Upper Darby, PA over the weekend.

Ron Holloway was the first to join when he took the stage for “Spanish Moon” at the end of the first set on Friday night. The Warren Haynes Band saxophonist then came out with Cabinet fiddler Todd Kopec for a second set “Going Out West” that included teases of Roy Orbison’s “Oh, Pretty Woman” before returning to for encore takes on “To Love Somebody,” “Soulshine” and “Tupelo Honey.”

Saturday night featured a guest appearance by saxophonist Bill Evans, who sat in for “The Other One Jam” and “Opium” during the first set. The band was also joined by Mini Carlsson and Machan Taylor of The Better-Half Singers for “She Came In Through The Bathroom Window” at the beginning of set two, which also saw Evans return for “Dreams” a “Blind Man In The Dark” that included lyrics from Bill Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine.” Carlson and Taylor then came back for the “Million Miles from Yesterday” encore that closed the out the show.

In related news, Gov’t Mule announced new tour dates with John Scofield this afternoon. Tickets for those shows will go on sale this Friday.
