According to CarolinaLive.com, Myrtle Beach police have opened an investigation to see if a missing man in the area is “Grateful Doe.” According to police, the department is investigating to see if a missing person identified as Jason Callahan could be Grateful Doe. Police are working with other agencies to determine if Callahan is Grateful Doe by collecting DNA samples, which have been sent off for evaluation.

“Grateful Doe” is a man whose body was never identified after a car crash in Virginia on June 27, 1995. He is called Grateful Doe because he was wearing a Grateful Dead t-shirt and had two tickets to their show in his jeans pocket. Police say Callahan has not been seen or heard from since June 1995 and, at that time, he left to follow the band Grateful Dead.
