The second night of Gov’t Mule’s getaway event Island Exodus in Jamaica saw the group joined by several special guests throughout both sets, with the majority occurring in the second set. Towards the end of the first frame, after playing a majority of it with no guests, the band brought out The Better-Half Singers on the Mule original “Million Miles From Yesterday.”

Set two started with a “Fool’s Moon” and “Politician” sandwich before saxophonist Ron Holloway and Sonny Landreth joined the fold for “Stratus.” Papa Gros jumped on keys for the following “That’s What Love Will Make You Do” and “Get Out of My Life Woman,” which also included Holloway and Landreth. Guitarist Paul Nelson and Papa Gros helped Mule debut a cover of Muddy Waters’ “19 Years Old” before digging into “Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody’s Home.”

All guests left the stage for the beginning of “Lay Your Burden Down” before The London Souls guitarist Tash Neal jumped on for the remainder of the set that would include “Smokestack Lightning,” a “Machine Gun” instrumental jam which returned to “Smokestack” and the closing bit of “Lay Your Burden Down.”

Holloway and Landreth returned for a single encore of “Get Behind the Mule” which also saw Danny Louis jump on drums for Matt Abts, who played percussion on the tune.
