The Howlin’ Wolf in New Orleans will host a series of Mardi Gras shows between this Friday and Fat Tuesday. The venue will welcome the Rebirth Brass Band on March 13 and 14—with Naughty Professor opening on the 14th—before Dumpstaphunk and the Hot 8 Brass Band hold it down on March 15. All of those shows will be free and open to the public.

This Monday, March 16—also known as Lundi Gras—the venue will host Cha Dooky Doo, a career retrospective of the music of New Orleans legend Art Neville. The Meters keyboardist will be joined by a band that features bassist Dave Jordan, drummer Aron Lambert, guitarists Brian Stoltz (who plays with Neville in the Funky Meters) and Chris Mule, keyboardist Marc Adams and the Zing Zing Horns’ Tom Fitzpatrick, Ian Smith and Rick Trolsen. Additionally, Art’s younger brother Cyril Neville, and his children Ian and Amelia Neville, will make guest appearances during the concert. Tickets for the event are now on sale for $20.
