BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe, who has helmed the evening slot for twelve years, is leaving to take a job at Apple. While there is no official word on what Lowe will be doing at the tech titan, it’s safe to assume it has something to do with the company’s desire to get into the music streaming business. It’s likely Lowe will play a role in creating the streaming service or working with musicians for special content.

Lowe gained a reputation not just as an engaging interviewer but also as a voice for young, up and coming bands both in the UK and United States. The DJ championed emerging artists routinely during his show, along with landing major interviews with the likes of Daft Punk, Radiohead, Jay Z, Ryan Adams and many others.

“I want to thank everyone at Radio 1 for their support and friendship. The station has allowed me to share incredible music with the country’s best music fans,” he said in a statement. Annie Mac will replace Lowe beginning March 9.
