Jimmy Herring and Duane Trucks sat in with Tedeschi Trucks Band during last night’s show at the Macon City Auditorium in Macon, GA. The Widespread Panic guitarist made his appearance for the encore, when he joined the band for a take on Derek & The Dominos’ “Keep On Growing.” Duane Trucks—who has been playing drums with Widespread Panic for the past few months—then came out to help TTB and Herring with a show-closing “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed.” Making the evening a true family affair, Duane Trucks—Derek’s younger brother—is actually married to Herring’s daughter.

Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi both took up Duane Allman’s 1957 Goldtop Les Paul at various points throughout the show. Trucks brought out the axe for “All That I Need” and “Break In That Road,” while Tedeschi utilized the famed guitar for “I Pity The Fool.”

In related news, on February 21 saxophonist area resident Ron Holloway joined Tedeschi Trucks Band during their encore at Washington, DC’s Warner Theatre. Holloway, a longtime member of the extended Allman Brothers family and veteran of both Tedeschi’s solo outfit and the couple’s Soul Strew Revival, emerged for takes on “Bound for Glory,” James Taylor’s “Fire and Rain” and Joe Cocker’s “Space Captain.”
