All four of the core surviving members of the Grateful Dead, as well as many others, will play with various projects at Dear Jerry: Celebrating The Music of Jerry Garcia. The event, which is set to take place on May 14 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD, will feature performances by Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, Billy & The Kids, Communion (Phil Lesh, Stu Allen, Grahame Lesh, Ross James, Alex Koford and Jason Crosby), Widespread Panic, The Disco Biscuits, Bruce Hornsby, Eric Church, moe., Railroad Earth, Buddy Miller, David Grisman, Greensky Bluegrass, Jimmy Cliff, Yonder Mountain String Band, Jorma Kaukonen, Los Lobos, O.A.R. and Trampled by Turtles. Additional performers will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Producer Don Was, who has put on numerous tribute shows in recent years, will serve as the event’s musical director. The concert will also be filmed, and there are plans to release a movie in the future.

Tickets for Dear Jerry are set to go on sale at noon ET on Friday, March 13. A portion of the proceeds from the show will benefit the Rex Foundation.

As previously reported, the core four surviving members of the Grateful Dead will team up with Trey Anastasio, Bruce Hornsby and Jeff Chimenti for a three-night Fare Thee Well run at Soldier Field in Chicago on July 3-5. Tickets to those shows sold out last weekend.
