In a new interview with Billboard, Jack White reveals that he was the mystery buyer of Elvis Presley’s first ever record, which features covers of 1930s ballads “My Happiness” and “That’s When Your Heartaches Begin,” at an auction in January. It was announced that an “unknown Internet bidder” won the single with a $300,000 bid that turned out to be the former White Stripes frontman.

“This,” White said upon receiving the vinyl, “is the first recording ever made by Elvis Presley. On Record Store Day Third Man Records will issue this on vinyl.”

Record Store Day is slated for April 18. For a complete list of participating record stores as well as upcoming, limited edition releases, click here.
