Eric Clapton will celebrate his 70th birthday with a pair of shows at Madison Square Garden. The legendary guitarist, who achieves septuagenerian status on March 30, will perform at the iconic New York City arena on May 1 and 2. The shows will also mark 46 years since Clapton’s band Cream opened the “new” Madison Square Garden on November 2, 1968. (Clapton has performed at MSG more than any other venue, having played there 45 times).

The upcoming shows will feature a backing band that includes Paul Carrack, Steve Gadd, Nathan East, Chris Stainton, Sharon White and Michelle John. Supporting act Andy Fairweather Low and the Low Riders will open each night.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public at 11am ET on Friday, March 20, though Chase debit and credit customers will have early access on Monday, March 16. The date for one of the shows may be changed to May 3 if it ends up conflicting with an NBA playoff game.
