The National returned to the stage on Friday night at the MusicNOW Festival in Cincinnati, OH, a festival curated by National guitarist Bryce Dessner. The group performed with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra for a nine-song setlist that included takes on “This is the Last Time,” “England,” “About Today” and “Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks,” among others.

Bryce’s brother and fellow National bandmate Aaron Dessner was forced to miss the gig due to the impending birth of his child, so the band enlisted Arcade Fire multi-instrumentalist Richard Reed Parry as his replacement.

The National have a few additional tour dates scheduled including a pair of shows in Spain and Aaron Dessner and Justin Vernon’s Eaux Claires Festival in July.
