STS9 continued their year-long hot streak with yet another bust out last night, this time at the Georgia Theatre in their hometown of Athens, GA. The song of choice was “Bosso Profundo,” a track that was last played over 13 years ago at The Cabooze in Minneapolis on March 13, 2002. The tune came toward the end of the first set, when the band band slipped it into the middle of a set-closing “Love Don’t Terrorize.”

Last night’s show was the latest STS9 gig to feature a big surprise, though bust outs, new songs and cover debuts have become more frequent since the group hit the road with new bassist Alana Rocklin. For instance, last week’s Buku Music Project after show at the Joy Theater in New Orleans saw the group debut a take on The Meters’ “Cissy Strut,” as well as some teases of 50 Cent’s “In Da Club.”

STS9 will return to the Georgia Theatre tonight for the second performance of their three-night run.
