Widespread Panic’s third and final show at the Fox Theater in Oakland saw the group continue their debut streak as they delivered “The Poorhouse of Positive Thinking,” a tune that previously appeared at solo gigs from JoJo Hermann. This was the first version performed by Panic.

During the second set, the band brought out Sikiru Adepoju for a series of tunes including “Fishwater” and “Red Hot Mama” along with drums and bass jams that preceded those tunes. Adepoju is a longtime Mickey Hart collaborator and played in the Mickey Hart Band with Panic bassist Dave Schools.

As another nod to the Grateful Dead, the band encored with “Cream Puff War,” a longtime Panic staple but this was the first time the band had performed the tune this year. Fittingly enough, it made its 2015 debut not far from where the Dead got their start.

Next up for Panic is a two-night run at the Orpheum in Los Angeles beginning March 24.
