Greensky Bluegrass played a special show last night at Terrapin Crossroads featuring bassist (and venue owner) Phil Lesh. The Grateful Dead bassist joined in for most of the second set with takes on the Grateful Dead’s “Mr. Charlie,” “Black Muddy River,” “Franklin’s Tower” and “Eyes of the World.” Lesh also played on a pair of Greensky originals in “All Four” and “Don’t Lie.”

Greensky nodded to the Dead before Lesh sat in as well, with a cover of “China Cat Sunflower” as the penultimate tune of the first set. That preceded a nod to the Allmans with “Midnight Rider,” a popular cover in the Greensky repertoire.

The band encored (without Lesh) with a cover of Dylan’s “Tonight I’ll Be Staying Here With You” and a closing “Goin’ Down the Road Feeling Bad” with a tease of “And We Bid You Goodnight” from Anders Beck.
