Jefferson Airplane/Jefferson Starship co-founder Paul Kantner will miss a number of upcoming shows due to a suspected heart attack. The guitarist and vocalist—the only member of the original Airplane lineup to play with every incarnation of both that band and Jefferson Starship—is now in currently in the hospital undergoing tests following the health scare.

A post on the Jefferson Starship Facebook page reads:

Hey everybody, Paul’s health took a bad turn this week. He’s in the hospital, stable and undergoing tests to find out exactly what’s going on but doctors suspect he had a heart attack. He is in the best possible care and we are sending him all of our best wishes, good thoughts and healing vibes. We’re continuing the tour without him, as most of the shows are sold out or close to it and we have to honor our contracts and our fans who bought tickets and put on the best show possible. We will dedicate every show to Paul until he is well enough to rejoin us onstage. Thank you for your continued support during this difficult time.

Jefferson Starship will continue their tour this Saturday when they perform at the Infinity Music Hall in Norfolk, CT.
