Nectar’s in Burlington, VT continued its 40th anniversary celebration with a very special edition of Bluegrass Thursdays earlier this week. The venue, which hosted numerous Phish shows in the 1980s (most recently on March 14, 1989), welcomed Phish drummer Jon Fishman for a night of music with Jamie Masefield, Doug Perkin and Tyler Bolles. Phish keyboardist Page McConnell also attended the show, though he did not perform with the quartet.

In addition to the music, last night’s event also featured some words from original Nectar’s owner Nector Rorris, current owner Chris Walsh and Phish archivist Kevin Shapiro.

Nectar’s will continue its year-long 40th anniversary celebration next month, when Dead Set perform the Grateful Dead’s Blues for Allah in its entirety, along with a tribute to Jerry Garcia Band, on Tuesday, April 21.
