Jerry Garcia’s ex-wife Manasha Garcia and their daughter Keelin Garcia have launched a new nonprofit called The Jerry Garcia Foundation. According its website, the philanthropic organization will support “artistic, environmental, and humanitarian causes.”

Some of the Jerry Garcia Foundation’s first projects have already been confirmed. This coming May, the foundation will exhibit and donate several pieces of Garcia’s fine art to the first ever Art! Vancouver exhibition in support of the nonprofit Sarah McLachlan School of Music. The organization will also collaborate in the production of an art exhibition called The Art of Rock n Roll Legends this summer. The event will support Drawbridge, a San Francisco Bay Area nonprofit that runs art programs and supplies art materials for homeless children.

Additionally, the Jerry Garcia Foundation will partner with the California Film Institute to present the Rock & Roll Film Festival at the Rafael Film Center in San Rafael, CA on July 6-8. The festival will feature films on Garcia, the Grateful Dead and others, as well as performances by special guests. On top of that, the foundation has also confirmed that the California Film Institute plans to simulcast all three Fare Thee Well shows at the Rafael Film Center.
