Trey Anastasio Band’s Natalie Cressman will make her Blue Note debut in New York on April 18. Joining the trombonist on stage will be Samora Pinderhughes, Ivan Rosenberg, Mike Bono, Jonathan Stein and Mark Whitfield Jr.. She will be performing cuts from her latest Turn the Sea.

Tickets are available here.

On the show, Cressman told Relix:

“On the 18th my band and I will be bringing our unique form of original music to the Blue Note, a storied jazz club I’ve wanted to play since I was a kid. But while my music is certainly derived from jazz, it is only one of many styles that are refracted through my modern musical lens, taking the sound somewhere new. The result is a dynamic blend of jazz, world music, soul, and indie rock and is probably impossible to pinpoint, yet freshly accessible, multi-layered, and genuine. And I really can’t wait to bring this crazy hybrid to the Blue Note, partially to shake things up a little and invite a bigger audience into the world of improvised music. My band is made up of some of my closest musical collaborators in NYC: Ivan Jackson on trumpet and vocals, Samora Pinderhughes on keys, Mike Bono on guitar, Jonathan Stein on bass Mark Whitfield Jr. on drums. We’re debuting some new material that I can’t wait to share with Blue Note audience on Saturday.”
