Umphrey’s McGee closed out their Texas run with yet another collaboration with opening act The Soul Rebels. Following a weather delay that cut the first set short, the band resumed the show with a take on the Snoop, Nate Dogg and Warren G collab “Ain’t No Fun” with the help of the brass section.
The previous night, the two parties took on Marley’s “Kinky Reggae” to close the first set.
Another surprise last night came later on when American Idol winner Taylor Hicks took the stage to share vocals on “Can’t You See.” This marks Hicks’ first appearance with Umphrey’s. The singer also jammed on harmonica with the band throughout the tune.
Hicks sat down with Relix in 2006 to discuss his love of Widespread Panic and Phish along with some controversial comments about American Idol. Read the piece here.
