Ryan Adams kicked off his two-night run at the historic Ryman Auditorium last night in Nashville, TN. The singer-songwriter deviated from his setlist with several rarities and a special guest spot including an appearance from Jason Isbell and his wife Amanda Shires as well as opener Natalie Prass.

Prass first joined the fold for a cover of “She’s Like the Wind” from the film Dirty Dancing, which Adams covered once before earlier this year. Isbell then came out a few songs later to add electric guitar to “Oh My Sweet Carolina.” Isbell, Shires and Adams then took to the mic at the front of the stage for an intimate rendition of the Whiskeytown track “Jacksonville Skyline,” which Isbell has covered several times before. Adams himself hasn’t performed the song since 2012.

Additional highlights from the show included a Cardinals tune “The End,” which hadn’t been played by Adams since 2012. The Love is Hell track “Political Scientist” also made an appearance in the set for the first time since October of last year.

Adams returns to The Ryman tonight.
